Nah. My Dad brought can's which were illegally noisy in the UK when we were in USA (they aren't illegal out there and does not say "illegal for road use" on them) and his insurers have never said anything. In fact nor have any cops....
References :
It "can" as far as the fine print goes, but whether or not you complied with the fine print it is for the insurers to prove that your alteration contributed to the crash. In reality a race can means you're louder = safer.
References :
Owned 3 bikes, always with a changed end can, crashed one of them myself had another crashed into, nothing ever said by insurers.

Hello

Sorry but no. You have driven it the only place you could without Road Tax. The bike had to be insured to take it to the MOT. And of course home again. Unfortunately you can not even park it on the Public Highway unless it is Insured, MOT'd and Taxed.
And to get the Tax you will need the V5, MOT and either a cover note or the insurance certificate.
No exceptions (You used to get 14 days grace but people knocked the Ar'e out of it, So it was stopped)

Another point is that it would flag up as both no Insurance or tax on the police automated systems.

You need to chase up your insurance ASAP. While the database isn't updated instantly, it should be up to date by now. It is possible that a wrong digit has been entered, and that could be big problems if stopped by roadside check.
It is still an offence to be without a valid disc displayed: the only grace is for 5 days after expiry provided you have applied on line while the old disc was still valid.
Until you get it all done you are still SORN, and if you get stopped they will have your guts for garters. (no tax, no insurance? + whatever they stop you for)
