I’ve ridden motorbikes for more than 7 years, but now I’m taking driving lessons too. I’m learning in a Skoda (no idea what type), and wondered what would be a good first car. Ideally I’d like something cheap to run, reliable, economical, and quite small. I have no need to carry large items or children, so I’m not bothered by leg room / boot space / etc.
I’m not rich either, so insurance has to be reasonable!
A Vauxhaul Corsa is a good starter if you get a small engine ie a little 1.3L Diesel the Insurance is fairly good (approx £400-£1000 a year). Not sure how your years on your bike will do to the Insurance though. It also depends on your age as well. If you can find a Second or third hand you will be looking at a cost of £6000 approx

A Honda. Or Toyota. Even used these cars hold their resale value, so it might be a bit expensive. But they run forever. Have tons of safety features(for insurance purposes). Did I mention that they will run forever.
