A motorcycle may be a “budget” vehicle, but it is still a vehicle, and you need to be a responsible vehicle owner by getting insurance for your new bike as soon as you can. Request a motorcycle insurance quote from a reliable company and make your vehicle a great deal safer on the road.
Let’s say this is your first motorbike, and your first time to scout around for a good vehicle insurance company. How do you know which companies will give you a fair motorcycle insurance quote? The answer is simple: ask them for it. Getting a good insurance deal relies on a person’s readiness to shop around, be patient, and meticulously pit the benefits offered by one plan against another from within the same insurance company, or else a rival. You don’t need to take the first or the cheapest insurance offered to you – that wouldn’t be smart at all.
If you don’t know where to start, listen and ask around. Word of mouth is usually enough as a source of useful information, so pay attention to the things that other motorcycle owners are saying about THEIR insurance companies. Ask questions from people who have experienced doing their own shopping for insurance plans, and gather tips on the benefits you need and how to properly approach insurance agents. It wouldn’t be good to listen to just one person, though this person is a trusted buddy or relative – the more
But if you want additional information – say you don’t know many other motorcycle drivers, or there are simply not that many bikers in your community – there are other ways to gather it. Other owners of insured vehicles also give feedback on their providers via the Web. In fact, the Internet is the best place to get info on competitive pricing schemes posed by insurance companies. Don’t be daunted by the anonymity: many reviewers are honest and willing to help out other first-time insurance shoppers, just as they were helped by anonymous reviewers when they were shopping around too.
The Internet is also a good place to learn about how to properly manage your budget in order to accommodate an attractive plan. You can find advice on the occurrences that should be covered by the plan you’ll get, and even checklists on the things you have to make sure of when asking for a motorcycle insurance quote.

I was in a motorbike accident where the other party has been found at fault. The other party’s' 25k coverage barely covers my medical bill, lost wages and rental fee. I separated my shoulder in the accident. I have underinsured coverage up to 50k and am wondering if I can ask my insurance company for pain and suffering for my claim. This accident happened in CA.
Usually you can. The idea of UIM is to pay for ALL the damages that should have been paid by the other driver including pain and suffering. However you should probably involve a lawyer as it may take some tough negotiating to get your best deal. You will be suprised at how big a differance it makes, even after they take their fee.

Hi Folks.
I am an old biker, and have ridden many a fine machine, both big and small, but only one was a 2-stroke, A Yamaha "super six", which was eventually banned from import as the power/weight ratio was just silly.
Then, many moons ago, petrol stations had a cylindrical oil pump arragement, with a knob that quoted 25/1 or 50/1 for one squirt per gallon of petrol.
I presume that 2-strokes now have their own little tank of oil.
Or is this mixture no longer needed ?
Sorry 2-stroke owners, fine off road, and the best thing for the job, but to me, it is a bag of nails in a tin can sound.
Oh, well !
Any notions ?
2 stroke bikes that are street legal will have a separate oil tank - so straight petrol can be used on fill up.
2 stroke off road race bikes don't usually have a separate oil tank - to cut down on weight.
Racers mix their own petrol/oil using quality race oil and their own tested oil/petrol mixture ratio.
Quads will have an oil tank for convenience.
The petrol station you mention might sell that stuff for owners of 2 stroke garden equipment - string trimmer, lawn mower, chain saw, etc)

11. do you think comprehensive insurance is worth it, or is third party fire and theft enough
thank you so much in advance
you dont have to answer all questions
this means a lot thank you
1. Usually, although with current gas prices many dealers are selling out as fast as they get them. If you find a good deal, buy it.
2. Insurance for a scooter is the same year round. Your payment will cover a full year
3. Just a title in most states. Some states require that you fill out a license application with both buyer and seller signing it. Check with your local dealer.
4. They are cheap, and usually junk. Before you buy, find someone who owns the brand you are looking at and has AT LEAST 1000 miles on it. Many of the cheaper ones either die before then or the dealer won’t be able to get parts for it. The warranty is useless if you can’t get parts. You will be much happy with a Japanese or European brand. Most have been around for 50 years and are supported by a real dealer network. Many Chinese bike dealers have less than one or two years experience with the brand they sell.
5. What is CBT?
6. No, if you can ride a bicycle, you can ride a scooter
7. No. If you’re new at this you want to deal with someone local who can help you if you have trouble.
8. Use a big chain, or build a wooden box you can roll it in to at home.
9. As safe as any other bike
10. Dairyland is usually good for young riders.
11. Can you afford to replace the broken parts? If not, comp is worth it, at least on a new bike.
12. Buy the best Helmet you can afford and WEAR IT!
Good luck and have fun.
